Discovery 2 Auxiliary Transmission Cooler
Description
Discovery 2 Auxiliary Transmission Cooler
Fits all Discovery 2 Models.
This kit will reduce transmission oil temperature by up to 30%. Oil is first cooled by the standard factory cooling method using coolant. It is then passed through an additional air cooled cooler located behind the front grill. From this air cooler the oil is returned to the transmission. The result is that double the oil cooling is achieved.
The system will hold an extra litre of oil also helping with heat dissipation.Another added benefit is that not as much heat is transferred using the factory coolant which lowers the overall coolant temperature too.
Addition of the cooler is particularly important if doing a lot of heavy towing.
Kit comprises:
1 x Oil cooler with brackets
8 x Oil cooler line fittings
2 x Oil cooler high pressure / high temperature hoses with clamps.

The Land Rover Discovery is a capable off-road vehicle that is equipped with a robust transmission system. While it comes with a factory-installed transmission cooler, some owners may choose to add an auxiliary transmission cooler for enhanced cooling performance, particularly if they engage in heavy towing, off-roading, or live in hot climate areas.
An auxiliary transmission cooler is an additional cooling unit that helps maintain optimal transmission temperatures by dissipating heat generated during operation. It works in conjunction with the factory-installed cooler to provide extra cooling capacity and prevent overheating of the transmission fluid.
The installation of an auxiliary transmission cooler typically involves mounting the cooler in front of the vehicle's radiator or in a separate location where it can receive adequate airflow. The cooler is connected to the vehicle's transmission fluid lines, allowing the fluid to flow through the auxiliary cooler before returning to the transmission.
Adding an auxiliary transmission cooler can provide several benefits, such as:
1. Improved cooling capacity: With an extra cooling unit, the transmission fluid can be cooled more effectively, reducing the risk of overheating during demanding driving conditions.
2. Extended transmission life: Cooler transmission fluid helps maintain optimal viscosity and lubrication properties, which can contribute to prolonging the lifespan of the transmission components.
3. Enhanced towing capabilities: If you frequently tow heavy loads, an auxiliary transmission cooler can help manage the additional heat generated during towing, reducing the strain on the transmission and promoting better overall performance.
